Daniel Jones participated in the Area 10 FFA Pork Producers Speaking Competition, where contestants were required to research emerging topics in the pork industry, craft a speech based on their findings, and deliver it from memory to a panel of judges.

To celebrate fire prevention month, our K, 1st & 2nd graders got to visit the Central Hickory Fire Station last week. Our local firefighters talked about life at the station, explained the various equipment they used and what to do if there is a fire. Students were challenged to create a fire evacuation safety plan with parents and share it with their teacher. The high school physics class measured and calculated the average speed and velocity of vehicles driving past the school during the midday. Students found that the average car drove almost 10 miles/hr over the posted speed limit.
